The Nuss Family LegacyCarl and his wife, Juanita, worked together to found Comtec Wash Systems, Inc. in 1984 to fill a void in the car wash industry. Below is a sequential introduction and timeline of the business, the family, and the story behind what we are today.
 | Carl Nuss
Comtec's founder, CEO & Chairman, Carl Nuss, began his career as a systems' analyst for Lockheed Martin (formerly Martin Marietta). After several years of looking for a business that would make it financially feasible for him to retire from the aerospace industry, Carl discovered the carwash industry.
As an owner/operator in the early 80's, Carl became increasingly frustrated at the lack of help and support he was receiving from carwash distributors and manufacturers. To fill that void, Carl and his wife, Juanita, worked together to found Comtec Wash Systems, Inc. in 1984. |

Juanita helped Carl set up all areas of the company while entertaining and communicating with customers, salesmen and officials. Her spare time was spent teaching part time while raising their four children, who now oversee Comtec Wash Systems, Inc. |
|  | Dave Nuss
Dave Nuss began producing equipment for Comtec while in high school. As one of Comtec's Installation Managers, Dave not only installs the equipment but he also works directly with customers. He assists them with equipment design layouts that result in timely and smooth installations. Dave is responsible for production, R & D, design installation, programming and scheduling. |

Following her marriage to Dave, Kat became Comtec's equipment coordinator. Now working part-time, Kat works directly with the sales department and the customer to order all the parts and pieces while coordinating their timely delivery. She is also busy raising their two children. |
|  | Vickie Nuss Phillips
Vickie Nuss Phillips is Comtec's General Manager and has a broad range of responsibilities. Vickie began working for Comtec while in high school and juggled her responsibilities at Comtec while attending college. Following graduation, she took over Comtec's accounting and purchasing departments. |
|  | Matt Phillips
Matt Phillips brought his years of technical experience to Comtec and began as a technician. Shortly thereafter, Matt became Comtec's Service Manager. After a few years, Matt and Vickie were married. Matt continues to train and direct the ever growing number of service technicians. |
|  | Rick Nuss
Rick Nuss, like his younger sister, Vickie, began working for Comtec while in high school and continued through college. As the Installation Manager, Rick not only installs the equipment but also works directly with the general contractors, electricians and plumbers to assure site construction is being completed correctly and on time. |
|  | Heather Nuss
Heather began working for Comtec following her marriage to Rick as a sales assistant helping prospective carwash owners find sites for their new businesses. Heather now works in Comtec's accounting department part-time while raising two young sons. |
